Young woman suffers horrific sex attack by ‘up to three men’

A woman has been dragged from the street and taken to an alleyway where a gang of up to three men raped her.

The 23-year-old was walking on Tennyson Road in Colne, Lancashire on Saturday at 11pm when she was grabbed from behind.

She was taken to an alley near Slater Avenue where “possibly two or three men” were waiting and repeatedly attacked her, according to police.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanne McHugh said it was believed to be an “isolated incident”, but wanted to hear from anyone who saw a “group of men acting suspiciously in the area” around the time of the attack.

She added the victim has been put through an extremely traumatic experience and she is being supported by specially trained officers at this time

“We believe this was an isolated incident and we have stepped up patrols in the area to offer reassurance to residents,” she added.

Police have launched a rape investigation and a forensic team are searching the area and no arrests have been made.
