Briefly
l CHARLES Arthur's article "Computers stuck in 1900s" (4 June), concerning the change-over from AD1999 to AD2000, was enlightening but his closing sentence demonstrates that not only computers have problems with our calendar: 1 January 2000 is not, as he states, "the first day of the new century". This does not occur until 1 January 2001.
