From Ms Silvia J. Henry Sir: With reference to Polly Toynbee's polemic, I am one of the old ladies "who express passionate political emotion about something, anything", in this case, young calves going to Continental veal crates.

Those who care about the welfare of animals do not need to apologise to those who accuse them of not caring enough about human beings. Posterity will judge this issue and our great grandchildren will draw their own conclusions.
