Sir: Cycling along footpaths and one-way streets the wrong way has nothing to do with disrespect for the law (Letters, 6 May). It reflects the woeful lack of provision for cyclists. Enlightened authorities provide cycle lanes to make it safer to cycle on the road, and special cycle lanes to make it possible for cyclists to go the wrong way down a one-way street. Cycling then becomes safer and more convenient, and we all benefit.
