Sir: John Major appears to be breaking out, but is there any hope that he will really buck the system in order to dig this country out of the depression? His role model, George Bush, is taking a leaf out of Harry Truman's book. May I suggest the Prime Minister follow the lead given by Franklin Roosevelt?

During the Depression in the Thirties, he invested government funds in his country's infrastructure, created jobs and proved his observation that 'there is nothing to fear but fear itself'. The people of Great Britain are now deeply scared of the future. They will continue to be so while the Government dithers and adheres to policies that fail to provide the answer to our problems.

Sincerely,

FRANK PRICE
