Letter: Pink partnerships
Sir: In your article "Liverpool courts pink pound as the capital for gay weddings" (3 February), you failed to name Brighton as one of the cities that welcomes non-residents to undertake partnership ceremonies. The first two such events for gay and lesbian couples took place here in 2002, with the participants travelling from Portsmouth and Northampton.
Since then some 70 couples have celebrated their relationships here in any of 21 approved locations including George IV's exotic pleasure dome, the Royal Pavilion. A further 250 people from across the UK and abroad have signed our Pink Weddings Waiting List ready for when the Civil Partnership Bill becomes law.
