Letter: Essex social workers are innocent

LYNN BARBER ('A family test for lunatic theories', 10 January) pours scorn on Essex social workers for being 'high-handed', 'draconian' and 'unfair' - and why? Because she has read a one-sided story in a magazine without bothering to check the facts.

Essex County Council has totally rejected the magazine's story, and had acted legally and correctly on the orders of the High Court. It is a pity Ms Barber did not even ask us for our point of view before a kangaroo court-style conviction in print.
