Sir: Nothing could so utterly refute Nigel de Gruchy's implicit contempt for working-class children and their abilities than the example of the National Youth Theatre. For many years now, the NYT has inspired such children all over the country to an interest in Shakespeare, and to performances on stage of consistent quality.

Yours faithfully,
