MICHAEL FATHERS' report 'Japanese remember - and the tears flow' (27 September) contained some inaccuracies. Members of the Burma Campaign Fellowship Group have not been 'disowned by their former British and Indian army colleagues'. Most are in fact members of the Burma Star Association. Still less were they ever guilty of fraternising with the Japanese enemy.

The cradling of ancient hatreds is awfully apparent in today's world. The BCFG seeks to foster reconciliation, of which the new cathedral at Kohima is a symbol.
