IN ANSWER to David Morton's question about filling in US visa applications (Briefly, 11 July), the story was told to members of the Savile Club by Wynford Vaughan Thomas. He and Gilbert Harding were travelling from Toronto to New York to attend a reunion of war correspondents at CBS news. On filling in his form at Buffalo station, Gilbert Harding wrote 'sole purpose of visit' in answer to the question 'Do you intend to overthrow, by force, the government of the United States?'
