Sir: Relate has compiled a quiz about how "your relationship" will survive Christmas (Column One, 6 December).

There are many couples who don't celebrate Christmas in the way the questions imply, and quite a few who avoid it altogether. In fact I know some couples whose "relationship" has been immeasurably strengthened by shared loathing of the overeating, overdrinking, overspending, aggression, intolerance, mawkishness and manipulation that typify this season of goodwill.
