Travel: Keeping the peace

AT THIS week's World Travel Market in London's Earl's Court - the annual gathering of the global tourism industry - there was talk of dollars 5 being added to every airfare to fund the cost of UN peace-keeping forces.

The WTM organisers have their own peace-keeping worries. The Cyprus stand has to be kept apart from the north Cyprus representatives; then there's Israel and Syria to consider. But there's good news: the Argentine tourism minister was pleased to tell me that inter-governmental talks had decided that, during discussions, the Falklands/Malvinas would from now on be known only as 'The Islands'. It's progress.
