(Swissotel)

Fresh from being named Europe's Capital of Culture, Istanbul continues to make its mark on the world's cultural stage this week with the opening of the Contemporary Istanbul 2010 art exhibition.

The country's most extensive contemporary art event will see works of art from all disciplines on display at the city's Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Centre between November 25 and 28, providing yet another incentive for tourists to visit.

Tourism to Turkey could pass 30 million arrivals this year according to some analysts, increasing to 33 million in 2012 as the country benefits from closer links with the European Union.

Figures released earlier this month confirm that for the first part of 2010, arrivals are up 9 percent on 2009, making Turkey the seventh most visited country in the world.
