How to have the ultimate feel-good holiday to Ibiza

Get pampered at the spa and take a sunset dip after kicking off your trip with a designer workout in London

Monday 12 March 2018 12:40 GMT

Start your day right with a £20 drop-in workout at 1Rebel, London’s hottest gym at the moment, offering a no-contract, high intensity workout to a house music playlist curated by top London DJs. The session is intense and guaranteed to get your endorphins flowing, but happily the deal is sweetened with a cold press juice bar, heated benches and floors in the changing rooms, swish toiletries and even a free beer as you leave.

Stretch and lunch al fresco

La Muella (La Muella)

Having pushed your limbs to the limit in London, make sure you arrive at La Muella in Ibiza in time for a recuperative yoga class before lunch al fresco. La Muella sits on the road between San Lorenzo and San Juan in the island’s north, and behind the unassuming whitewashed facade lies an enchanting, thoroughly bohemian Ibizan den. Shop the swish boutique for crystals and handwoven textiles, then settle down for spectacular salads such as the Lubina, served on a pumpkin and lemongrass puree with wild rice, caramel chilli, almonds and a courgette salad.

Retail therapy at The Rose

Gypsy Westwood (Gypsy Westwood)

The Rose is less of a boutique and more of a museum of nice things, with eclectic artwork, handmade garments and beautiful ceramics and homeware. Look out for the handmade silk items designed by co-owner Claudina Damonte, including kaftans, palazzo pants and ruffled maxi dresses. The Rose is a favourite among visiting designers – Isabel Marant comes here every time she visits the island.

Roam medieval ruins

Much of Ibiza’s modern day character has been minted since the hippies first arrived on the island in the Sixties, but visitors are rewarded for delving into the island’s history. A good place to start is the Unesco World Heritage-listed Dalt Vila (literally "high town”), strolling the medieval ruins amid a maze of cobblestoned lanes and whitewashed walls.

Get your zen on at the Nobu spa

Nobu (Nobu)

You’ve worked your body hard today, so reward those weary limbs with a soak and a massage at the most envy-inducing spa on the island: the in-house spa at the new Nobu Hotel. A Six Senses spa, this is easily the best place to restore body and soul, perhaps with an outdoor massage in a balmy pavilion overlooking the bay, or go glam at the blow-dry bar. Outdoor roof terraces and beach cabanas mean you can have your treatment wherever you please.

Refuel on raw organic juice

Sofia Gomez Fonzo (Sofia Gomez Fonzo)

For decades Ibiza was associated with hedonism, but today it’s also renowned as the heart of the raw, paleo vegan culinary scene. Potion was one of the first cold-pressed juice bars on the island, and it’s still one of the very best, with a wide range of juices and nut milks. A particular favourite is the Black Magic, packed with charcoal to cleanse and flush out any excesses from the night before.

Sunset swim at Cala Bonita

Cala Bonita (Cala Bonita)

Unwind with a sunset dip at Cala Bonita, a secluded cove with one of the prettiest beach restaurants on the island, Restaurant Cala Bonita. Picturesque S'Estanyol beach on the south is within easy reach of Talamanca Bay, Ibiza Town and Jesus, but it feels a world away from the bustle. And the restaurant is beloved by both locals and returning visitors, serving sophisticated Balearic cuisine in a rustic setting.

With a central location and check-in just 20 minutes before departure, you’ll have time to fit in a morning workout before you fly from London City Airport.

British Airways flies up to five times daily from London City Airport to Ibiza during the summer months. Find out more at ba.com/londoncity
