PSV strike late to leave Tottenham clinging on in Champions League
All the action from the Group B clash in Eindhoven as it happened
Captain Luuk de Jong scored a late equalizer Wednesday to salvage a 2-2 draw for PSV Eindhoven against 10-man Tottenham in the Champions League.
Tottenham had recovered from giving away a first-half goal and looked headed toward a 2-1 victory until goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was sent off in the 79th minute for fouling Hirving Lozano, who had earlier capitalized on a mistake by Toby Alderweireld to put PSV ahead.
Christian Eriksen, making his first start after a month out with an abdominal injury, was involved in the buildup for Lucas Moura's equalizer and set up Harry Kane for Spurs' second.
The shared points were the first for both teams in Group B following defeats to Inter Milan and Barcelona, who were playing each other later Wednesday.
After Kane put Spurs ahead, the visitors looked in control until referee Slavko Vincic showed Lloris a straight red.
Substitute keeper Michel Vorm did well to save the resulting free kick with his first touch of the ball, but he stood no chance in the 87th minute when De Jong turned in the equalizer from close range.

Good afternoon and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of today's Champions League encounter between PSV Eindhoven and Tottenham Hotspur, brought to you from the Philips Stadion.
With kick-off at 5:55pm BST, we'll begin our full build-up from 5pm.
In the meantime, read what Mauricio Pochettino had to say ahead of the match when he appeared at his press conference yesterday, where Jack Pitt-Brooke was in attendance:
Dier: Spurs' off-field woes have brought success
A lot had gone wrong at Tottenham before a ball was even kicked this season. The new stadium was a long way from being ready and Mauricio Pochettino was unable to pull out that famous pose and welcome a new signing at Spurs.
All this, explains Dier, has brought the team together and contributed to their record start under Pochettino.
TEAM NEWS
Spurs have confirmed their team for tonight's fixture, and they make three changes from their weekend victory over West Ham. Mousa Dembele and Christian Eriksen return in midfield, while Heung-min Son is also back, with the South Korean somewhat surprisingly included over the in-form Erik Lamela:
TEAM NEWS
Hosts PSV swept past FC Emmen in a 6-0 victory at the weekend, and make just one change from that fixture. Donyell Malen comes in for Steven Bergwijn on the wing.
This really is a must win game for both sides if they are to realistically target progression from Group B. Both have lost their two fixtures so far against Barcelona and Inter Milan.
40 minutes until kick-off at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven. There was late action when PSV and Spurs' Under-19s met in the UEFA Youth League earlier today, with the visitors Spurs coming from 2-0 down to snatch a draw in the 95th minute. Does similar drama await us here tonight?
Mark Van Bommel is the familiar face on the PSV sideline tonight. He is in his first year as PSV manager after previously working with the club's first team. He is, of course, very familiar with this competition, and won it with Barcelona in 2006 as part of his stellar playing career at some of Europe's biggest clubs.
Consistent and solid as a player, his PSV side have got off to a perfect start in the Eredivisie with nine wins from their first nine games, conceding just three goals. They'll be a tough test for Spurs tonight.
Spurs' propensity for signing Dutch-based players is well-noted, and as such Mauricio Pochettino and the Tottenham board may have their eyes on the opposition in that regard tonight, too.
Hirving Lozano is perhaps the Dutch side's primary threat from the wing, and has been linked with Spurs in the past...
Kick-off is nearing in Eindhoven. Slavko Vincic is the Slovenian whistle man to control affairs on the pitch tonight.
Christian Eriksen is back from his stomach issue - what kind of impact can the Dane have?
