A healthcare assistant who was due in court to face charges of sexually assaulting 14 men on a hospital ward has been found dead.

The body of Ameet Mohabeer, who worked in the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, was found at a house in Butely Road, Luton on Sunday.

He had been on bail facing 17 charges of sexual assault on males after pleading not guilty at a hearing at St Albans Crown Court on September 15.

The charges related to incidents that occurred while he was on duty at ward 17, a specialist stroke ward, of the hospital.

A spokeswoman for Bedfordshire Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
