Seventh man in court over £40m gem heist

A seventh man charged with involvement in Britain's biggest jewellery robbery will appear in court today. Aman Kassaye, 24, of no fixed abode, is accused of conspiracy to rob Graff jewellers in central London on 6 August.

He is also charged with attempted murder, unlawful imprisonment and use of a handgun with intent to resist arrest. Kassaye will appear before Wimbledon magistrates. Another six men have already been charged with conspiracy to commit the £40m robbery.

A total of 43 rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches, were stolen in broad daylight from the New Bond Street store.

Benjamine McFarlane, 21, of St John's Wood, north-west London, Courtney Lawrence, 30, of Ladbroke Grove, central London, Gregory Jones, 29, of Harrow, north-west London, Jamal Mogg, 42, of Bournemouth, Solomun Beyene, 24, of St John's Wood, and Craig Calderwood, 26, of no fixed abode, will appear at Kingston Crown Court on 23 October. Beyene and Calderwood also face one firearms charge each.
