Police arrest eight after two men stabbed in attack at private party in east London venue

Eight people have been arrested in connection with the stabbing of two men at a party in east London during the early hours of this morning.

The victims, aged 25 and 23, are in hospital undergoing treatment for serious stab wounds after the attack at Oasis Banqueting Hall in Barking, Dagenham, a police spokeswoman confirmed.

Two others, a man and a woman, have also sustained unspecified injuries during the assault at the private hire venue on Thames Road and have also been taken to hospital.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said its officers were called to the scene at 4.15am after reports of multiple stabbings. A Metropolitan Police helicopter was also deployed.

The arrests were made at the hospital in east London where the stabbed men are treated and they are being questioned by police in connection with the attacks.

Barking and Dagenham Borough’s CID are investigating and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
