CPS suspends lawyer arrested for 'misconduct'

A Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) official has been suspended, accused of perverting the course of justice and miscond- uct in public office. Sarfwaz Ibrahim, 50, a CPS Gwent prosecutor, was arrested with Saifur Khan, 36, from Cardiff, who is accused of aiding and abetting misconduct.

Mr Khan and Mr Ibrahim, from the Cyncoed area of Cardiff, were released on bail after a hearing at Swansea magistrates' on Saturday, to face the city's Crown Court in September. A CPS spokeswoman said the CPS had been involved in the operation that had led to Mr Ibrahim's arrest.
