CCTV from inside the store as well as footage from witnesses shows the gang breaking into the shop with an axe and a sledgehammer before raiding its contents.

More than 40 999 calls were received by the police, which helped track down the thieves and led to their arrest.

The men had parked a silver transit van earlier in the morning before attempting the raid on scooters. After tracking this van along the A11, police had arrested all six offenders within an hour of the incident.

All six men were sentenced at Norwich Crown Court.

Curtis Bradbury received an 11 year extended jail sentence (six years custodial, five on licence), while Tommy McKenzie, Bradley McMillan and Alfredo Rojasvagras received a six year jail sentence each.

Mark Moloney, 18, received five years imprisonment in a young offenders institute and Dillon Zambon, 17, received three years imprisonment in a young offenders institute.

DC Katie Barnard said: “Today’s sentencing reflects the seriousness of this offence and sends a clear message that this type of crime will not be tolerated in the city."
