Megyn Kelly claims Donald Trump feud has 'not been enjoyable' as she hints at leaving Fox News

Trump claimed Kelly had 'blood coming out of her wherever' after she grilled him on his derogatory comments about women

Megyn Kelly has indicated she might not stay on at Fox News after an eventful year covering Donald Trump’s rise to Republican frontrunner in the run-up to the presidential elections.

Kelly has been repeatedly targeted by Trump ever since she questioned him on his history of sexist remarks about women while moderating the Republican debate in August 2015.

Trump appeared furious after the line of questioning both at the debate and afterwards when he vented his frustrations both on Twitter and CNN - where he infamously said of Kelly: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.” He also called her a “lightweight”, said numerous times he doesn’t respect her and thinks she is “highly overrated” as a journalist.

The Kelly Files host said that while she feels supported by the staff at conservative broadcaster Fox News, she hasn’t decided if she will renew her contract with the company despite reporting for them for 12 years.

Reflecting on being the focal point of Trump’s insults, Kelly told Variety she wishes the real estate mogul would end his "attacks" on her. “It has not been enjoyable. I wish it hadn’t happened. I hope it will stop - his focus on me. If he’s determined not to stop, there’s nothing I can do. I don’t like being the story. I think it raises real First Amendment issues.

“I’ve seen what’s happened with Michelle Fields [the former Breitbart News reporter allegedly grabbed by Trump’s campaign manager] and in my own world, there’s another side to his behaviour. It poses real risks to the person under attack.”

Kelly did not explicitly answer whether she thought Trump was sexist but said elsewhere in the interview she thinks the languages he uses “is very different when he fights with women”.

The 45-year-old also said she would like to interview him if he leaves his anger towards her at the door but every time she prepares to do so “he attacks me on Twitter or elsewhere”.

She has also been subject to abusive tweets from supporters of Trump on Twitter and says she now barely uses the social media site, “I go on for the news,” she says. “I don’t go on the mentions. Whenever I go to the mentions, I’m sorry I did.”
