Good Morning Britain hosts criticised for ‘interrogating’ Love Island star over sexuality

‘Interrogating someone about their sexuality on TV? He shouldn’t be forced to say or label himself as anything. Let him live’

Curtis Pritchard says he doesn't want to 'label' himself after being asked if he is bisexual

Good Morning Britain presenters Kate Garraway and Adil Ray have been criticised for “interrogating” Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard with regards to his sexuality.

In a recent interview with The Sun, the professional ballroom dancer stated that he “wouldn’t rule out” the prospect of dating a man in the future.

This statement led many to assume that Pritchard would describe himself as bisexual, despite the 23-year-old making no such admission.

During an appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Thursday, Pritchard was asked to clarify how he would define his sexuality.

The professional dancer – who placed fourth in this year’s series of Love Island with his partner Maura Higgins – said that he does not feel the need to “label anything”.

“I think the future’s a road which is unwritten,” Pritchard said, when questioned by Garraway about his recent statement regarding being open to dating a man.

“Nobody can ever say what’s going to happen in the future, really. I mean, last year, would I have ever said that I’m on Love Island? No, and then this year I was on Love Island.”

Co-presenter Ray then asked Pritchard: “Are you saying you’re bisexual?”, to which the dancer responded: “I’m not labelling anything.”

When Ray then asked: “Why not?”, the dancer explained that he did not want to label himself after learning in the Love Island villa how quickly a person can “change their mind”.

“So that’s why I’m not labelling anything, because I would be lying to any one of you,” Pritchard added.

Several Twitter users praised the professional dancer for the way in which he conducted himself on the morning talk show, while also criticising the presenters for “interrogating” him about his sexuality.

“He shouldn’t have to label his sexuality and people shouldn’t keep speculating,” one person wrote.

“Interrogating someone about their sexuality on TV? He shouldn’t be forced to say or label himself as anything. Let him live,” another added.

Another person said they thought it was unprofessional for the Good Morning Britain presenters to “badger” Pritchard about his sexuality.

“Why were both presenters pushing Curtis to find out whether he’s bi or not... none of anyone’s business,” someone tweeted.
