WhatsApp is working on the final tweaks to its long-awaited dark mode feature, according to beta testers of the popular messaging app.
The Dark Theme mode is designed to make it easier to view messages in low light conditions, as well as help conserve battery, and has been teased by the Facebook-owned app for several months .
Website WaBetaInfo, which tracks developments of unreleased versions of the app, revealed the feature was nearly ready to be released on Android and iOS.
"WhatsApp is continuing to work on the Dark Theme, improving the last details before the release," the site explained.
"It is continuing to add new features for the Dark Theme before the release. For this reason, it's normal if you don't see [Dark Theme] in WhatsApp, as it is under development."

The release date of the new Dark Theme is still unknown and WhatsApp does not comment on unreleased features to its app.
The reason for the long wait is "to ensure the best bug-free experience", according to WaBetaInfo.
Facebook has already launched a dark mode feature for its Messenger app, while other popular apps like Gmail, Reddit and YouTube also support it.
Despite there still being no official release date for the Dark Theme on WhatsApp, some users have already discovered a way to access the feature.
The secret work-around , which was widely shared across social media in December, involves exploiting a bug within the Android app
It currently only works for users running the beta version of WhatsApp on a phone with Android 10 installed.
