Kit Harington has emotional reaction to the Game of Thrones finale

Kit Harington has checked into a "wellness retreat" to deal with "stress and alcohol use" following the end of Game of Thrones.

The actor, who played Jon Snow in the HBO series, reportedly began getting treatment a few weeks before the finale was broadcast.

According to Page Six, the British star is in Connecticut undergoing psychological coaching and cognitive behavioural therapy to help deal with negative emotions.

Harington's representative confirmed the news, saying: "Kit has decided to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues."

The actor, whose wife is former co-star Rose Leslie, played Snow on the fantasy series from 2011 right up until its finale, which aired earlier this month.

Speaking about wrapping his final scene, Harington, 32, told Esquire: "The final day of shooting, I felt fine...Then I went to do my last shots and started hyperventilating a bit. Then they called, 'Wrap!' And I just... broke down. It was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again."

Harington recently revealed that he sought therapy after feeling “unsafe” following his character's infamous "death" scene at the end of season five. He added that he found himself under such intense scrutiny following the scene’s airing that he began feeling “vulnerable” in public.

New Game of Thrones documentary The Last Watch, which was broadcast on Sunday, showed Harington becoming emotional after discovering one of the finale's biggest moments.

The HBO special also showed the precise moment the cast discovered Arya would kill the Night King.
