Donald Trump has become the 45th president of the United States.

It's tough to recall a time when Trump wasn't running for president but ahead of his nomination, he wasn't considered such a controversial figure, instead a renowned cultural figure largely respected by celebrities; the business magnate, who entered the public eye in the 70s and 80s, was himself something of a TV personality having fronted The Apprentice USA for 14 seasons.

His media appearances didn't stop there. In fact, Trump has notched up a large number of cameos in popular films and TV shows over the years, which you can see compiled in one clip below.

Trump's film appearances include The Job, The Little Rascals, Zoolander and Hugh Grant-Sandra Bullock rom-com Two Weeks Notice. He can also be seen in Home Alone sequel Lost in New York in which he points Macauley Culkin's Kevin in the right direction.

His television cameos range from Will Smith series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and HBO's Sex and the City - in which he's observed from afar by character Samantha (Kim Cattrall) - as well as a rather bizarre WWE appearance.

He also cropped up twice in US sitcom Suddenly Susan with one appearance layered with eerie foreshadowing which sees Kathy Griffin's character unveil a mock-up of a newly-designed magazine emblazoned with his face alongside the words: 'our next president.' This political moment was also accurately predicted six years ago by American linguist Noam Chomsky.

Trump will take up residency in the White House following Barack Obama's departure on 20 January.
