Trailer for Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame

The countdown to Avengers: Endgame is almost complete and the cast gathered to share some cryptic details about the new film – although one gave away a little more than they should have.

Speaking at a press conference in California, cast members including Chris Evans (Captain America) and Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man) spoke about the final chapter in the Avengers franchise alongside directors Anthony and Joe Russo.

Karen Gillan was also present and had to stop herself talking after accidentally letting slip a detail regarding her character, Nebula.

“It’s maybe safe to say she suffers from some daddy issues because her dad is Thanos, so who wouldn’t?” Gillan said, adding: “I’m excited for her to face the source of this abuse. She’s talked about how she wants to inflict revenge, so we all know about that. I’d like to see her try to face that.”

After catching on that she probably revealed too much, Gillan said: “I don’t know if she will. Maybe she won’t. I just got really nervous I gave something away, so I’m going to stop.”

The synopsis for Endgame reads: “The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.”

While it doesn’t reveal any details about specific plot points in the final Avengers film, it does heighten the excitement for what is sure to be one of the biggest events in the history of cinema – and also promises the end of the Avengers as we know them.

You can find our countdown of every film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – from worst to best – below.

Avengers: Endgame will be released in the UK on 25 April.
