EE, Orange and T-Mobile customers can now claim a free charger from the network by just texting and walking into a store.

To claim the Power Bars, customers have to text “POWER” to 365, and texts will cost 35p. They’ll receive a message back with a code, which can then be taken to any EE store and used to pick up a battery pack.

They are available to any EE customer. That includes pay-as-you-go customers as long as they have been with the network for three months and have made a call or text during that time.

When the charger runs out of power, it can be taken back to an EE store and replaced with a fully-charged one. That can be done as many times as customers need to.

If the chargers get lost, customers can pay £20 to get hold of another one. Non-customers can also buy chargers for the same price.

The chargers have built in cables, though customers will have to use their own cables to charge an iPhone.
