Apple’s iTunes is currently holding one of the biggest sales on its apps this year, with some of the most popular apps reduced to free.

The tech giant is promoting 100 different apps that users can download for substantially reduced prices, including items such as Rayman Jungle Run or Angry Birds.

Although apps were initially all either free or priced at £0.79, their explosion in popularity has seen prices spiral in recent years. Although many are still free, users can be charged increasingly steep prices for the most popular apps.

Here are some of our favourites:

iBeer

Normally for sale for £1.93 this massively popular app, downloaded an estimated 90 million times and with stellar reviews across the board, is currently (at the time of publication) totally free.

Allowing you to virtually share a pint with any number of your friends, we might not pay money for it – but as a free app it is a winner.

KidCam

One for parents: allow your child to play on your iPhone without worrying they will clog up the memory and/or break something. Free on iTunes at the moment.

Angry Birds

Who hasn’t heard of this game and loved it? The phenomenally popular app is now available at a reduced price – download at your own risk. Currently £0.79.

TextGrabber + Translator

Currently 85 per cent off, this award-winning app allows users to translate text from any printed newspaper and magazine. Customer feedback is predominantly glowing, and the app is ideal for students. Currently £0.79.

The Great Photo App

A brilliant introduction for would-be photographers, this app guides you through lessons in exposure, aperture, shutter speed and various other methods top photographers learn. Currently £0.79.
