Murray forced to fight hard for Miami victory

Andy Murray has reached the last 16 of the Miami Masters after a 6-4, 6-4 victory over the 2004 Olympic champion Nicolas Massu last night. Murray will now play Serbia's Viktor Troicki, who earlier beat Bjorn Phau 6-4 6-3.

The Scotsman struggled early in the first set, going 3-0 down before he reeled off four games in a row, breaking Massu twice. The Chilean, however, was not prepared to roll over and broke back immediately before serving three successive double-faults to hand back the break. A love game from Murray sealed the first set.

Murray then raced into a 5-1 lead in the second set before Massu began an unlikely comeback. He missed chances to level the set at 5-5 in a nine-minute final game before Murray settled matters with a thumping cross-court drive.
