Squash: Martin wins by a tennis score
Brett Martin, Australia's world No 2, looked as if he might become the first victim of an experiment using tennis-style scoring at the Grasshopper Cup squash tournament in Zurich, but after losing the first set he recovered to beat Mike Toothill, of South Africa, 2-5, 5-2, 5-1. Tennis scoring is being used for the first time in a squash event in an effort to make the game more attractive to spectators and television by providing more crucial points. Games are scored as in tennis - 15-0, 30-15, deuce, advantage and so on - with a player serving one complete game. The first player to win five games, as opposed to six in tennis, wins the set.
