Squash: Martin has Dil in a pickle
MICHELLE MARTIN, the new world No 1, needed only 10 minutes to win her opening match in the Guernsey Open yesterday, then announced that her British Open build-up is progressing well, writes Richard Eaton from St Peter Port.
The Australian won 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 against Heskia Dil, the world No 36 from the Netherlands, losing only seven rallies. Martin's slimmer, stronger frame has improved her ability to contain opponents as well as attack them, and has increased her confidence. 'When you have done the hard work you don't worry so much,' said Martin, who took over at the top last month with the retirement of the New Zealander Susan Devoy.
