Nigel Clough, the 32-year-old former Nottingham Forest and Manchester City midfielder, has become player-manager of the Dr Martens League Premier Division club Burton Albion.

Oldham Athletic have signed the former Bradford City, Bolton and Scotland forward John McGinlay on a non-contract basis.

The Charlton defender Emeka Ifejiagwa has joined Brighton on a month's loan. Charlton say the move is unlikely to become a permanent one.

The Republic of Ireland's Group Eight Euro 2000 qualifier in Yugoslavia has been re-arranged for 18 November, but as yet no venue for the game has been decided.
