The World Boxing Council is to honour the Ghanaian Azumah Nelson as the greatest professional boxer Africa has produced.

A little-known South African, Mpush Makambi, who had only agreed to fight at five days' notice, surprised Islington's Adrian Dodson with an 11th- round knockout to claim the vacant IBO world middleweight title at York Hall, London, last night.
