Guardian Insurance will not renew their sponsorship of the British Athletics League after next season - ending an association which began in 1977.

Oleg Tverdokhleb, who won the European 400 metres hurdles title in Helsinki last year, has been electrocuted while repairing wiring in his parents' house. He was buried yesterday.
