Snooker: Wattana sparks of celebrations
James Wattana fended off a fightback by Steve Davis to beat the British world No 1 9-7 in the final of the Thailand Open and set off a night of celebration in Bangkok. It was the first time Wattana had captured his country's major title, having lost in the final five years ago. Davis, five frames adrift, clawed his way back to trail 7-6, but Wattana stopped the rot by winning the 14th frame, and while Davis tenaciously took the next, it was all over as the Thai wrapped up the match with a clearance to the pink of 76.
