Rugby Union: Latecomers to join England

CLIVE WOODWARD'S England squad will reach full strength by midweek when six players who stayed in Europe join the training camp in Australia.

Tim Stimpson and Joe Worsley played in the Paris Sevens on Sunday while three Leicester forwards, Neil Back, Graham Rowntree and Darren Garforth, celebrated the wedding of their club colleague Richard Cockerill on Sunday.

Woodward, from his island resort in the Tasman Sea off the coast of Queensland, said: "Everybody is fit. We have been training very hard in excellent facilities." England have nearly three more weeks training before they play a warm-up match against Queensland in Brisbane before the only Test of their trip against the Wallabies in Sydney on 26 June.

Wales have kept one player - No 8 Geraint Lewis - from the team beaten by Buenos Aires on Saturday for tonight's match against Tucuman. That means outside-half Neil Jenkins, No 8 Scott Quinnell and second-row Craig Quinnell are likely to play in Saturday's Test without the benefit of a warm-up.

Ireland romped to a 43-6 victory over New South Wales Country in the opening game of their Australian tour in Woy Woy yesterday. The Irish, leading 16-6 at half-time, cut loose in the second half scoring four tries.
