Racing: Names to watch in '93

THREE-YEAR-OLDS

TAOS (John Gosden). Progressive colt by super-dad Sadler's Wells. Unbeaten in three starts as two- year-old. Decent value Derby bet.

BARATHEA (Luca Cumani). Sadler's Wells again. Won prestigious Houghton Stakes at Newmarket from useful Storm Canyon. Unbeaten in two.

SUMOTO (Geoff Wragg). Beat high-class Sayyedati in informative Halifax Stakes at Ascot, but had training problems. Said to be coming back well.

TENBY (Henry Cecil). Tough and classy colt, won Grand Criterium at Longchamp on Arc weekend. Has progressed well over the winter.

BEGGARMAN THIEF (John Gosden). Probably not top-class but improving steadily. The type to run up a sequence.

SAYYEDATI (Clive Brittain). Saw off the brilliant Lyric Fantasy in the Cheveley Park Stakes, the two- year-old fillies' championship. Big, tough filly, sure to succeed again in 1993.

OLDER HORSES

UNDERWATER (Roger Charlton). Dark horse. Highly regarded last spring but didn't appear on the track. May make amends as a four- year-old.

ZINAAD (Michael Stoute). By Derby winner Shirley Heights out of Oaks winner Time Charter. Missed early part of last season but should pay to follow now.

MUHTARRAM (John Gosden). Fourth in the 2,000 Guineas and fifth in the Derby, but disappeared subsequently. Stays in training and should excel over a mile and a quarter.

MAGIC RING (Paul Cole). Ultra- fast two-year-old in 1991 but suffered setbacks last season. May re- emerge as the leading sprinter this year.
