MYSILV, the leading juvenile hurdler, was sold at Doncaster Sales yesterday for 155,000gns, a world record price for a jumper sold at auction. The filly had been bought last autumn for 27,000gns by bloodstock agent David Minton for the Million In Mind syndicate, writes Sue Montgomery.

Trained by David Nicholson, she won six consecutive races, including the Triumph Hurdle. Her new owner is the Elite Racing Club, based at Charlie Egerton's Berkshire stables.

Minton went to 130,000gns to try to keep the filly, but the opposition, including the Irish trainer Mouse Morris, was too strong. More than 100 of the Million in Mind syndicate were in the packed sale- ring to watch their favourite; some were in tears after they lost her. Nicholson said: 'It's sad, but now Minty has a few quid to go to war with. He'll have to find us another one.'
