GOODWOOD

2.40: Jabaroot and MYSTIC HILL both showed improvement on their last outings to win handicaps at Chester and York respectively, and should have this contest to themselves. Roger Charlton's charge won more easily but is the less severely penalised of the two and should not be troubled by the extra distance he encounters today.

3.10: ALRIFFA, who is not entered for Epsom, should dominate the last of the recognised Derby trials. He has progressed into a potentially high-class colt

since his debut in the Wood Ditton Stakes, when Opera Score was fourth. Neither the 2,000 Guineas sixth, Star Selection, nor Just Happy, who finished behind him, is unlikely to improve on the efforts of the 10 of their Classic rivals who have run since - all have been beaten. The well-regarded Shanghai Venture could spring a surprise. The form of his Brighton maiden win has begun to work out well.

3.40: AWAYIL would establish a family tradition by winning here. She is a daughter of Ra'a, who was saddled by Harry Thomson Jones to win first time out on this track five years ago. The stable has started to strike form. Twice As Sharp looks best of the two that have raced. Peter Harris's runner is a son of Sharpo, whose progeny usually act best on a soft surface.

4.10: Lightly raced Lower Egypt is burdened with top weight but fully earned his rating against decent opposition last season. Dropped into handicap company for the first time here, John Gosden's charge could prove he has the quality to dominate this field. An exception looks to be COMANCHE COMPANION. Joe Naughton's course winner ran well from a difficult draw at Chester last time out, but luck appears to be turning her way now. The going will suit her admirably.
