2.30: SIR JOEY and Loch Patrick are closely matched on recent Chepstow form, but the selection appeared to improve again when winning at York. At 6-1 in Ladbrokes' morning list, his price makes more appeal than Loch Patrick's 7-2 Coral (5-2 Ladbrokes).

3.00: Geoff Wragg, who won this race last year with Glatisant, saddles Alusha, a half-sister to the good sprinter Everglades, but this year's renewal may fall to AQAARID, whose dam Ashayer took the 1987 vintage for the same connections en route to success in the Prix Marcel Boussac. Willie Carson has chosen her in preference to Shadayid's half-sister Azdihaar.

3.30: Despite a field of 15, the market is dominated by the in-form Captain Jack and Admiral's Well, from a stable to be feared in valuable handicaps. The former is as short as 2-1 with Ladbrokes (5-2 Coral and William Hill) and the latter - who runs off the same mark as when unlucky at the royal meeting - generally 7-2.

4.05: Otterbourne's July meeting second was devalued by the odds-on defeat of the third, Dark Wood, at Yarmouth yesterday and this son of Marwell is unlikely to be suited by today's seventh furlong. SUVALU, a half-brother to Paul Cole's smart three-year-old Strategic Choice, can confirm the stable's juvenile strength.
