ROYAL ASCOT

2.30: Docksider, a winner in Germany a fortnight ago, likes to hear his feet rattle and would be a contender if the showers stayed away. But it will be difficult to stop one of the Godolphin trio grabbing this prize and Frankie Dettori has selected FA-EQ. It is worth pointing out, though, that Dettori has a poor record in choosing between stablemates. Fly To The Stars was a Dettori reject when winning at Newbury last month, as was Cape Cross last season.

3.05: Henry Cecil complicates matters by saddling two. Contrary to expectations, stable rider Kieren Fallon takes the reins on Chester House. This decision could be down to the fact that this colt, although likely to be finishing powerfully, can be an awkward customer and needs strong handling. Willie Ryan comes in for the plum ride on SHIVA, a filly unbeaten in three runs despite having to contend with the top-class Daylami at the Curragh last time.

3.45: Gerald Mosse is second-to-none among the globe-trotting jockeys riding at Ascot this week, and again has the opportunity to display his brilliance on SENDAWAR. With this contest run on the round mile, Mosse's mount is ideally drawn against the inside rail. The French colt should not be unduly troubled by the good to firm going, whereas his chief rival in the betting, Aljabr, has up until now raced on easier surfaces. Rain would improve his chance.

4.20: The meeting's first big-field contest on the straight track offers punters the possibility of spotting any draw advantage that can help find the winner of the Britannia Stakes later this afternoon. Unless high numbers are markedly worse off, however, FASLIYEV should keep his tall reputation intact and win this from stall 17. Bee Eight looks to have each-way prospects from stall 9.
