n I think that is goodbye to Wimbledon. I think it will be my last. It's a jungle out there and everyone wants to kick your ass. The 31-year-old Henri Leconte after being eclipsed by the Argentinian, Javier Frana.

n I was a little bit nervous. I didn't know what to expect, but it was a great feeling playing here for the first time. The fifth-seeded Mary Pierce on her debut at Wimbledon.

n It's something extraordinary for me. Every time I come here the emotion starts. I've grown to love it. Andre Agassi on the reception which greeted his entrance on to Court One to play the qualifier, Andrew Painter.

n He played everything better than I did. He was volleying better, he was serving better. He did every shot just that little bit better. Michael Stich, the No 9 seed and 1991 champion, after losing 6-4, 7-6, 6-1 to the Dutchman, Jacco Eltingh.
