Hull have made their chief executive, Stephen Ball, redundant as part of the club's management restructuring. Alan Mason, the Hull chairman, said yesterday: "We have asked Steve to continue to advise us on our grant applications and wish to publicly thank him for his major positive contributions over the past 18 months."

Paris yesterday named Peter Mulholland, the former Western Reds boss, as their head coach for next season. The 42-year-old former Canterbury Bankstown player takes up his appointment in January, but will travel to Paris later this month to meet key players from the French competition and members of the Paris management team.
