Shadrack leads goal spree

Liane Shadrack topped the weekend's scoring tally with four well-taken goals in Cambridge City's 8-1 win against Bury St Edmunds, putting her side at the head of the Crowe Insurance Women's East Premier. Kay Bunday scored twice with Nat Redpath and Vanya Fairman-Smith also netting. Cambridge's men also won, 5-1 away to Colchester.

In the South Premier Division One, Eastcote, relegated at the end of last season, set the pace. They are the only team with full points following their 4-0 win against High Wycombe, the goals coming from James O'Shea, John Curtiss, James Grant and Martin McCloud.

Under their new coach, Terry Adby, the Middlesex side are set for a quick return to the top flight. They could be under pressure from Wimbledon, who only drew their opening game with Beckenham, before bouncing back this week with a 7-1 win at Chichester, Rob Stone scoring a hat-trick and Dan MacLauchlan a brace. Andrew Cruickshanks and Robert Wildig completed the scoring.

Rob Boswell was another three-goal striker as City of Portsmouth enjoyed an 8-0 home win against Wokingham. James Jauncey scored twice with the other goals coming from Tom Boswell, Peter Hayward and Steve Toms.

In South Premier Division Two, Calum Giles scored twice in Oxted's 7-1 win against Old Kingstonians as he made his player-coach debut for the Surrey club.

Bath Buccaneers were without their player-coach, Bobby Crutchley, against Bristol. His brother, Sam, paved the way with the opening goal in a 7-0 victory in which James Munne-Young scored twice, James Boyce, Tom Owens and James Brown also getting their names on the score sheet. Bath are now two points ahead of Isca.
