In an emotional homecoming, Sidney Gavignet had the double celebration of breakfast in his old home port and victory in the European tour leg from Cascais to Marseille in the Omani MOD70 Musandam.

The Omani trimaran had made the break in the Atlantic section of the 1,070-mile leg and had an important cushion going through the Straits of Gibraltar and into the Mediterranean.

Gavignet then was first to the finish line at the club just outside Marseille where he had learned to sail in his student days.

He was followed by Stève Ravussin’s Race for Water, Michel Desjoyeaux in Foncia, Yann Guichard in Spindrift and Sébastien Josse in Groupe Edmond de Rothschild.
