Wakefield 14 Catalan Dragons 30: Raguin inspires Dragons as Wakefield fall short

Sebastien Raguin was the hero for the Catalans as Wakefield missed their chance to go back to fourth in the Super League.

It had been all Wakefield early on: the game was only eight minutes old when Brad Drew's sharp pass sent Sean Gleeson over in the corner.

The Wildcat's second four minutes later was the sort of try that defences can do little about, Duncan McGillivray and Ryan Atkins both getting magnificent passes away as they were tackled and Damien Blanch finishing the job.

The Catalans got into the game midway through the half with the help of an unorthodox try. Danny Brough's kick took an odd bounce, Raguin carried it back and Casey McGuire went through a defence that seemed to be waiting for the whistle.

A Brough goal kept Wakefield six points ahead, but the Dragons claimed their second try five minutes before the break, Ragiun storming onto Adam Mogg's pass and putting in a surprisingly delicate little kick for Younes Khattabi to score.

Raguin continued his blitz on the Wakefield defence after the break, this time going over himself from Thomas Bosc's pass to put the Catalans level, with Bosc's penalty soon after putting them ahead.
