Huddersfield star Brown relishing England chance

Late England Rugby League call-up, Huddersfield Giants Kevin Brown, has admitted he would play anywhere for his country.

Speaking to the I ndependent’s Rugby League podcast Tryline the 25 year old was looking ahead to the Test match with France this weekend and particularly the stadium at Leigh Sports Village when he made the comments.

He said; “No, I’ve never played there. It looks a fantastic stadium when I’ve seen Leigh play in the national leagues, but I’d play on the car park for England to be honest!”

Brown, and Giants team mate Shaun Lunt, were both called in to Steve McNamara’s squad as cover for injury doubts Kyle Eastmond of St Helens and Leeds Rhino’s Danny McGuire. It has been confirmed that the Saints man will miss the game but McGuire is still in the running to play in the Gillette Fusion International.

Lunt has since returned to the Giants and will be available for selection for their game against St Helens on Friday, while stand-off Brown is still part of International squad and will be hoping to get on the pitch on Saturday. If he does, it will be the first cap for his country and he will fulfil his self-confessed boyhood dream.

He told the Giants club website; “It’s still a burning desire to step on that field and be an international. It would be the biggest achievement of my career so far – fingers crossed I’ll get the chance”.
