Leander club cleaned up in the Head of River Fours from Putney to Mortlake by winning the men's coxed and coxless fours and men's and women's quads. Olympic gold medallists James Cracknell and Matthew Pinsent teamed up with Ed Coode and Rick Edgington in the coxed boat to finish 10th overall in the four-and-a-quarter mile time-trial.

The duel among the top end of the women's national squad was settled by Leander's Debbie Flood, Alex Beever, Alison Mowbray and Rebecca Romero, who beat the Marlow-Thames-Leander combination of Elise Laverick, Sarah Winckless, Cath Bishop and Tracy Langlands.
