Goodwood is not the only Festival taking place this week and at Galway the feature race today is the Plate, for which Jim Goldie's Kid'z'play heads the British challenge. The nine-year-old is near the top of the weights, however, having won three novice events at Perth this summer.

"The weight is the big issue," the Glasgow trainer said yesterday. "It would have been better if he had 10st 9lb and not 11st 9lb."

Totheroadyouvgone will be Alan Jones's first runner at Galway and the Devon trainer is optimistic. "I think he'll take all the beating. He's got no weight and he has earned his place."
