The ladies championship seems destined to be decided at next Saturday's Umberleigh finale even though Polly Gundry, on the 18-winner mark, and Rilly Goschen (17) are both in action over the weekend.

Neither of the two rides of reigning champion Gundry at Chaddesley Corbett today has much to recommend on form and her best chance from four mounts at Bratton Down tomorrow appears to be Let's Fly in the ladies' open (3.45). Goschen's only ride this weekend is on Chasing The Bride in the same race, but Rimpton Boy, who won by a neck, and Father Tom fought out the finish of the ladies' open at the same venue last week and should do so again.

Another success for Rimpton Boy would put him equal on eight with this season's leading horse, Cannon Bridge, who is entered at Chaddesley today. But, according to his trainer, Cath Williams, the fast ground there means he is more likely to turn out in the men's open (3.45) at Bratton Down tomorrow.

Fixtures: Today: Harkaway Club at Chaddesley Corbett. (First race 2.0). Next to A448 midway between Bromsgrove and Kidderminster, exit 4 or 5, M5. Tomorrow: Tiverton Staghounds at Bratton Down, north Devon. (2.0). Alongside A399, 11m N of South Molton, 3m S of Blackmoor Gate.
